Prices are for both eyes and include everything listed under "What your price includes" below. Hotel and airport transfers are a separate charge; flights are not included. Your exact price is confirmed in writing by your surgeon after your free assessment. Single-eye prices, if offered: {{single-eye price}}.

The method

Surface laser, Femto-LASIK and SMILE Pro use different laser platforms and steps, so they are priced differently.

Your eyes

Corneal thickness, the shape of your cornea and the size and type of your prescription decide which methods are safe for you; the US Refractive Surgery Council also lists prescription complexity and the technology used as reasons LASIK prices vary.

What the price covers

A low headline price that leaves out scans, check-ups or medication is not cheaper in the end. That is why we quote one written price per treatment, with the inclusions spelled out.

What your laser eye surgery price includes, and what costs extra

Included in your treatment price

  • Full pre-operative eye examination and scans with your surgeon in Istanbul, including corneal topography and OCT scans
  • Laser surgery on both eyes by your named surgeon, using the method agreed in your quote
  • Medication and eye drops for your recovery
  • Follow-up examinations in Istanbul with the same surgeon before you fly home
  • A personal interpreter in your language at every appointment
  • A dedicated coordinator who organises your appointments, reports and paperwork
  • Remote follow-up after you return home, with video reviews by your surgeon at agreed intervals

Optional, at extra cost (arranged on request)

  • Hotel: {{nights}} nights at {{hotel standard}}, from {{hotel price}}. You are free to book your own.
  • Airport transfers: from {{transfer price}}.
  • Extra nights if you want to stay longer or your surgeon advises it.

Not included

  • Flights to and from Istanbul (we suggest suitable flight times once your dates are set)
  • Travel insurance (see the FAQ below)
  • Anything not written in your quote. If your case needs something extra, it appears in your written quote before you pay a deposit.

Possible extra costs to ask about anywhere. Whether you have surgery at home or abroad, ask what happens if you need a top-up treatment (an "enhancement"), how long aftercare lasts and who pays for treating dry eye if it occurs; UK price-comparison data lists these as the most common exclusions. Our answers: re-treatment {{enhancement / re-treatment policy}}; remote aftercare for {{aftercare period}}.

How much is laser eye surgery in Turkey compared with home?

At a glance: typical published prices, both eyes (USD, 2025–26). This table stays visible in every currency.

MethodIstanbul (market)UKUSAGermanyUAE / Saudi
LASIK / Femto-LASIK$1,450–2,700$4,000–7,500$4,000–6,000$2,800–5,300$1,600–3,800
SMILE / SMILE Pro$2,000–3,450$5,900–10,200$5,000–8,000$3,250–6,000$3,260–5,440 (UAE)

Typical advertised ranges from our 2025–26 market research. Comparing the middle of each range, LASIK in Istanbul is about 65% cheaper than in the UK and about 60% cheaper than in the US; SMILE is about 66% cheaper than in the UK. Many advertised Istanbul prices are bundles that already include a hotel and transfers. Ours do not, so you can compare the treatment cost like for like and choose your own hotel.

If you live in the UK: laser eye surgery cost UK vs Istanbul (GBP)

Laser eye surgery and lens surgery are not usually offered on the NHS, so almost every UK patient pays privately. Typical published 2026 UK prices are:

MethodUK price per eyeUK price, both eyesIstanbul with us, both eyes
LASIK / Femto-LASIK£1,295–£3,250£2,590–£6,500from {{£ price}}
LASEK / PRK£575–£2,950£1,150–£5,900from {{£ price}}
SMILE£1,995–£3,750£3,990–£7,500from {{£ price}}

UK clinics often quote per eye, which can make a headline price look half the real cost of treating both eyes. Our prices above are always for both eyes.

If you live in Germany or elsewhere in the EU (EUR)

German statutory health insurance (GKV) treats laser eye surgery as elective and does not pay for it; private insurance depends on your policy. As an example of German pricing, one large German laser-centre group lists LASEK/PRK from €1,990, Femto-LASIK from €2,100 and SMILE pro from €2,575, all per eye, in 2026, with check-ups for six weeks and any re-treatment within five years included. Our EUR prices for both eyes: Femto-LASIK from {{€ price}}, SMILE Pro from {{€ price}}.

If you live in the USA (USD)

The US Refractive Surgery Council puts the national average LASIK price at $4,492 for both eyes, about $2,250 per eye. It also warns that very low adverts such as "$299 per eye" usually exclude consultations and check-ups or apply only to small prescriptions. Our USD prices for both eyes: Femto-LASIK from {{$ price}}, SMILE Pro from {{$ price}}. Some US patients use a Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Account for laser surgery; ask your plan whether treatment abroad qualifies.

If you live in Saudi Arabia or the Gulf (SAR)

The Saudi riyal is pegged at SAR 3.75 to the US dollar, so the Gulf figures above equal roughly SAR 6,000–14,250 for LASIK and SAR 12,225–20,400 for SMILE in the UAE. That is much closer to Istanbul prices than in the UK or the US, so for laser alone the saving is small. Gulf patients more often travel to Istanbul for premium lens surgery, keratoconus treatment or retina care. Our SAR prices for both eyes: Femto-LASIK from {{SAR price}}, SMILE Pro from {{SAR price}}.

Why laser eye surgery is cheaper in Turkey

Lower running costs, same equipment

Istanbul's eye surgeons use the same laser platforms you find in London or Munich, such as the Zeiss VisuMax for SMILE and femtosecond lasers for blade-free LASIK. The difference is the overall cost of healthcare in Turkey, not the technology.

Bundled versus itemised pricing

Some prices include a hotel and transfers, some don't; some include re-treatment, others charge for it. Always compare what is actually in the price.

Per-eye versus both-eye quotes

A "from £1,295" UK price is per eye; most Istanbul prices are for both eyes.

Exchange rates

If you pay in pounds, euros or dollars, currency movements change the real cost. Your quote states the currency you pay in: {{quote currency}}.

A lower price only makes sense if the essentials are the same: an experienced surgeon you can name, full pre-operative tests, a properly equipped operating theatre and a clear aftercare plan.

Your surgery takes place in a fully equipped, Ministry of Health–licensed operating theatre in Istanbul, and you know your surgeon's name before you book.

  5. If you are not suitable

Laser eye surgery cost: frequently asked questions

Laser eye surgery in Turkey typically costs about £1,100–£2,700 for both eyes, depending on the method. Surface treatments such as PRK sit at the lower end and SMILE Pro at the upper end. At Laser Istanbul Clinic, laser treatment starts from {{£ price}} for both eyes, including your examination, surgery, medication, check-ups and interpreter; hotel and transfers are extra.

Typical published 2026 UK prices are £2,590–£6,500 for LASIK on both eyes, £1,150–£5,900 for LASEK or PRK and £3,990–£7,500 for SMILE. Many UK clinics quote per eye, so double the headline figure for both eyes. The NHS does not usually pay for laser eye surgery.

The US national average for LASIK is about $4,492 for both eyes, or $2,250 per eye, according to the Refractive Surgery Council; our market research found typical advertised US prices of $4,000–$6,000 for both eyes. Prices vary with the technology used and your prescription.

Mainly because healthcare costs less to run in Turkey, not because the lasers or methods are different. Eye surgeons in Istanbul use the same laser platforms as Western clinics. Differences in what is bundled into the price, and per-eye versus both-eye quotes, explain the rest of the gap.

Our laser prices are for both eyes. If you need treatment on one eye only, ask for a single-eye quote: {{single-eye price}}.

No. Hotel and airport transfers are a separate charge, and flights are not included. We are happy to book a hotel ({{nights}} nights, from {{hotel price}}) and transfers ({{transfer price}}) for you if you ask, or you can arrange your own.

Only if your examination shows that a different method suits your eyes better, and you agree to it before surgery. Your surgeon explains why, and the new price is confirmed in writing before treatment. If laser surgery is not suitable for you at all, you won't pay for an operation you don't need.

{{enhancement / re-treatment policy: whether a top-up treatment is included, for how long, and what you would pay for travel}}. Ask any provider this question before you compare prices, because policies differ widely.

Usually not. The NHS does not usually offer laser eye surgery, German statutory health insurance does not pay for it, and US vision plans and FSA/HSA accounts vary. Check your own policy before you book.

Yes, and tell your insurer you are travelling for treatment. The NHS advises making sure you have appropriate travel insurance and informing your insurer about planned treatment abroad, because standard policies may not cover it.
