How to read your cost and savings result

How do I use the laser eye surgery cost calculator?

Use the calculator in five quick steps:

  1. Choose your treatment, for example Femto-LASIK, SMILE Pro or lens replacement.
  2. Choose one eye or both eyes where the price is per eye.
  3. Pick your home country and enter your home quote, or use typical published prices.
  4. Add flights, nights in Istanbul, hotel, transfers and everyday spending.
  5. Read the saving and the break-even figure, then send your estimate to a surgeon if you want an exact written price.

What is included in the Istanbul price, and what costs extra?

Our price for each treatment includes your pre-operative examination and scans, surgery by your named surgeon, medication, follow-up checks in Istanbul, a personal interpreter, a coordinator and remote follow-up after you fly home. Hotel and airport transfers are not included. They are a separate charge, arranged on request, and you may book your own. Flights are not included either. The calculator adds all three to the Istanbul side. See what each package includes and the price list for every treatment.

How much can you save? A worked example

Take Femto-LASIK for both eyes. Typical advertised prices in 2025–26 were $1,450–$2,700 in Istanbul, against $4,000–$7,500 in the UK, $4,000–$6,000 in the USA, $2,800–$5,300 in Germany and $1,600–$3,800 in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Comparing the middle of each range, the saving before any trip costs works out as:

Home countryMiddle home priceMiddle Istanbul priceSaving before trip costsRoughly
UK$5,750$2,075$3,67565% less
USA$5,000$2,075$2,92560% less
Germany$4,050$2,075$1,97550% less
UAE / Saudi Arabia$2,700$2,075$62525% less

Our own calculation from market ranges, rounded to the nearest 5%. Many advertised Istanbul prices are bundles that already include a hotel and transfers; ours do not, so the calculator adds those separately.

That saving is your break-even figure: if flights, hotel, transfers and meals for you and a companion cost more than it, there is no saving. This is why the Gulf result is small for laser alone.

Why does the calculator offer a safety margin?

The NHS treatment-abroad checklist advises budgeting for exchange-rate changes, a longer stay than planned and the cost of a possible return trip. Try 10% or 20% on the slider and see whether a saving remains.

What should you check besides price?

The US Food and Drug Administration advises against choosing laser surgery on cost alone and warns that there are never guarantees in medicine. Before you book anywhere, ask who will operate and get their name, what the price includes, how long aftercare lasts, who treats complications and what a top-up treatment costs. UK price comparisons list enhancements, extended aftercare and dry-eye treatment as common extras.

Who is laser eye surgery for?

The American Academy of Ophthalmology says good LASIK candidates are aged 18 or over (ideally over 21), have a prescription that has not changed significantly in the past year, and have healthy corneas. Laser cannot correct presbyopia, the age-related loss of near vision, so people over 45 often compare lens replacement instead (see the price list). Which treatment is safe for you is decided by your surgeon after measuring your eyes.

This calculator gives an estimate for comparison only. It is not a quote, not medical advice, and it does not tell you which treatment suits you. Every surgery has risks, including dry eye, glare and halos, the need for further treatment and, rarely, loss of vision. Your treatment and your price are confirmed in writing by your surgeon after a full eye examination.

Get your exact price

Use the calculator, then ask for a written price. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Satıcı, Doç. Dr. Muhammet Derda Özer (Associate Professor) or Op. Dr. Aysan Bayram will review your prescription and tell you which treatments may suit you and what they cost. Compare treatments in our price list for all eye treatments (GBP, EUR, USD, SAR) and see what each eye surgery package includes.

Laser eye surgery cost: frequently asked questions

Typical advertised prices in 2025–26 were $1,450–$2,700 for Femto-LASIK on both eyes in Istanbul and $4,000–$7,500 in the UK. A March 2026 UK provider comparison lists £1,295–£1,995 per eye for standard LASIK or LASEK and up to £3,750 per eye for complex cases. Our own price for both eyes is {{price}}.

On middle-of-range prices, about 65% for UK patients and 60% for US patients before travel costs, but only about 25% for patients in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, where laser is already cheaper. Trip costs reduce the saving, so the calculator shows the total and the break-even figure.

No. It is an estimate based on the numbers you enter and on typical published prices. Your surgeon confirms your treatment and price in writing after your examination.

No. Our price covers your examination and scans, surgery by your named surgeon, medication, follow-up checks in Istanbul, a personal interpreter, a coordinator and remote follow-up. Hotel and airport transfers are a separate charge arranged on request, and flights are not included.

No, and no calculator can. Use the safety margin slider to build in a cushion. The NHS advises budgeting for a possible return trip and a longer stay, and checking how follow-up care will work at home.

Laser and lens surgery are not usually offered on the NHS, though NHS cataract surgery is available. German statutory insurance does not pay for laser. In the USA, laser vision correction is a qualified expense for FSAs and HSAs; check your own plan.

Price alone does not tell you. The FDA advises choosing on more than cost: ask about the surgeon's experience, complication rates, aftercare and what the price includes, and be wary of deals that sound too good to be true.

Yes. It covers standard cataract surgery, trifocal lens replacement, ICL, corneal cross-linking, corneal transplant, vitrectomy and eyelid surgery as well as laser. In the UK, standard cataract surgery is provided by the NHS, so the comparison is for private or premium treatment.
